The explanation for this probably lies in ”Tibblin's cross”, where the late professor of medicine Tibblin divided health into the variables Sick – Healthy and Feeling Good – Feeling Bad. So you can be healthy but still feel bad (at least for a while), and the high number of sick leave cases is probably related to feeling bad. Interest in methods for feeling good is therefore constantly increasing, and this training programme is intended to contribute to an increase in the ”Feeling Good level”.

Well-being has to do with the inner self.

Recent research on the concept of ”happiness” has shown that only 71% of ”happiness” is related to external factors, while 93% stems from internal factors (Seligman et al.). There is every reason to believe that the same applies to the concept of ”well-being”. Nevertheless, we still attribute ”feelings of unwellness” to external factors such as the workplace, job content, relationships or external events. Of course, we should work to improve society, but at the same time there is no positive correlation between welfare and well-being. The level of well-being must therefore be raised through other methods.

What is Feel Good?

If we are to work towards increasing well-being, it is important to be able to measure the concept of ”well-being” at an individual level and at a corporate and societal level. However, this requires an analysis of the concept. In March 2005, I therefore asked around a hundred people to describe how it felt when they felt ”good”.
